Will Johnston-Carter is a nonfiction filmmaker and motion graphics animator. He has over 7 years experience shooting, editing, and producing documentary, explainer, and promotional videos for nonprofits and progressive causes.
His work has been written about or featured on MSNBC, The New York Times, The Washington Post, Politco, Bustle, shondaland, NPR's Valley Edition, El Tecolote, and Scalawag Magazine.
Born in Connecticut but raised on the Central Coast of California, Will graduated from Chapman University with a BFA in Film Production and a BS in Physics.
After college, he interned for the documentary filmmaker Robert Kenner (Food Inc, War Letters, Two Days in October) before spending two years with AmeriCorps where he served as Media Production Coordinator for the nonprofit organization Impact America.
In 2017, he southbound through-hiked the Appalachian Trail, 2,189 miles from Maine to Georgia, and took way too many photos to prove it.
From 2018 to 2022, he worked at Define American, where he produced videos about immigration, identity, and citizenship in a changing America.
He currently split his time producing freelance videos and animations while pursuing an Art MFA at UMass Amherst.
